Why does quit smoking hypnosis work? Hypnosis works by guiding the subconscious mind, which is responsible for learned behaviours, emotional responses and automatic habits. This is where the smoking pattern sits, and it’s also where lasting change happens.
Understanding the smoking habit
It’s worth unpacking what a habit is. Good or bad, a habit is a pattern of behaviour. When we were young, our parents taught us various valuable tasks, such as cleaning our teeth and tying our shoelaces.
Later in life, we learn to perform more complex tasks like reading, writing or driving a car.
To begin with, we are usually clumsy as our conscious mind grapples with newness, coordination, sequence, and memory.
But the more we repeat the pattern, the easier it gets. On one level, the pattern is transferring into the subconscious; we are ‘learning the ropes’, and it becomes ‘second nature’.
As adults, we clean our teeth, put on our shoes, read, write, and drive cars with little attention; it becomes ingrained in our subconscious.

Well, I’ve made it past the 3-month mark, and I’ve still quit and couldn’t be happier. I still have little cravings, but like you said, as soon as it pops into my head, it goes away again. I’ve even found social situations fine. I’m exercising more, and I’m no longer that dirty fagger in a group that has to pop out for a cigarette.
